# Chat

> Log activities, ask questions, and get summaries in your own words.

Chat is a direct way to work with your Ritual records. Type or speak an activity to log it, then ask questions about the data you've collected.

## Log in natural language

Describe what you did and include any useful detail. “I ran for 30 minutes this morning” gives Ritual an activity, a duration, and a time. Review the resulting entry in [Logs](/product/logs).

## Ask a specific question

Name the activity and date range you want to explore. For example:

* “What apps did I use most this week?”
* “How often did I exercise this month?”
* “What did I work on yesterday?”

Answers depend on the records available in your workspace. Check connection and sync status when a source appears to be missing.

## Summarize a period

Ask for a daily summary or a report on a specific habit. Use the summary as a starting point, then inspect individual records or [Metrics](/product/metrics) for more detail.
